There are three core areas that define us as a firm and as your partner.

When it comes to marketing and branding, we don't want to help you increase the number of customers who include you in their "consideration" set. No, in this arena our goal is to increase the number of customers who actually "choose" to do business with you. More importantly, we help you build a strong, growing base of loyal customers. At the end of the day, marketing isn't about being well known - it's about being chosen.

Human resources is often cited as the key to business performance. We'd agree. We'd also add that it's the right human resources that are key to business performance. In developing and executing your HR strategy we make sure the focus is not on "world class" but on your class talent. That is the people who are talented, excited, motivated and committed to drive your specific business by executing your business strategy and delivering your brand through each and every customer interaction.

Execution. Our responsibility is to partner with you to execute your strategies and tactics as rapidly and effectively as possible. We relentlessly look to cut cycle time from the development and implementation of strategy. Speed and focus of strategy execution are the keys to successful business results - and that's where our work distinguishes itself.

We believe and act on integrity, trust, respect, friendship and contribution. The name of our firm is Flanagan Consultants, for one very simple reason. Our founder knows and willingly places his reputation behind each and every partnership we have with our clients, our associates, and our affiliate firms. This is an example of our commitment to integrity, trust and respect. You may well find our values of friendship and contribution to be of particular interest.

In looking at the firms and individuals we've been privileged to do business with, we notice one remarkable thing. They are organizations and people whom we trust, respect and enjoy working with - people we are delighted to consider friends as well as clients. Whether or not we are partners is a matter of business circumstance and opportunity. Whether or not we build strong friendships is a matter of shared values and experiences. We value long lasting relationships regardless of whether there is a business opportunity present.

Contribution to us means an obligation to give to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. We make these contributions in a variety of ways. At year end, we honor our clients and friends by making contributions in their name to various charities. Our favorite charities are those who provide food, clothing and toys to families and children at the holiday times. Our experience shows that the warmth we both feel from doing this is a lot more lasting than sending and receiving a basket of fruit or cookies.

We are also committed to helping organizations that help others. This can take the place of pro bono work or work at significantly reduced fees.

Perhaps our most significant area of contribution is in the area of disaster relief and response. Our Founder and President, Leo F. Flanagan, Jr., Ph.D. was privileged to join others in the rescue and recovery effort at Ground Zero in New York City following the September 11th attacks. Through this experience he built upon his previous work with survivors of trauma and established friendships with leaders in trauma intervention and disaster response. He is an expert in disaster response particularly in rapidly re-establishing business operations. In living our value of contribution, Leo personally donates four weeks per year to helping individuals and communities respond to the short and long term effects of disasters and trauma.
